Join our team at Johnson Electric as a Mechanical Designer - Automation!Location: Ancaster, Ontario Canada (100% onsite)Full-time permanentLanguage skills required: Proficient in EnglishSalary: $90,100.00 to $100,000.00Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Out of Country coverage, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Paid Overtime after 40 hours, 30-minute paid meal break, 5 paid sick days, 2 company designated floaters, $200 annually for safety footwear, $200 annually for safety glasses or $400 every 2 years, generous pension plan, Employee recognition program and Service Awards.As our next Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for analyzing, concepting and designing production automation solutionsWhat You'll Be Doing:Mechanical design of robot and assembly systems, production gauges and error proofs, assembly jigs, equipment automationAnalyze engineering drawings, and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products.Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to project designs.Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (ex. Machine safety, AGC and/or customer specific)Review electrical requirements with respect to input and output devises with electrical designers.Review machine operations and machine sequences with project team.Select appropriate purchase component for mechanical assemblies and create requisitions with appropriate delivery dates.Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies and Main assemblies using SolidWorks.Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc.Assist the manufacturing team by resolving any issues during build, debug and integration of projects.Communicate with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff as well as with vendors for technical information and specifications.Communicate requested design changes to AGC team or respective manager.Responsible for communicating time estimates, resource requirements, and progress on design tasks to the Automation Engineering Manager.Periodic supervision of the mechanical design effort on a project level delegating tasks to a team of people.Organize documentation, including quotes, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects.Assist on proposals and estimating mechanical design labour hours.Will assist in developing design and department standards.Periodically oversee Co-op students and Junior Designers on various projects.Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives.Perform other related duties as required.Qualifications, Education And / or Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering5+ years' experience in special purpose equipment and/or automation designMust have experience designing new pump assembly lines and retrofitting existing lines with new productsHands on experience designing robotic cellsHands on experience with AMR / AGV system design and integrationExperience with automated solutions for powder metal operations, including compacting and sintering.Must be proficient in SolidWorksWorking knowledge of common machine shop techniques.Must demonstrate a strong ability to conceptualize and create concepts and solutions for complex design requirements, sometimes from sketches or verbal concepts.A thorough knowledge of the use of pneumatic systems, also electrical devices (i.e. switches, load cells, LVDT's, etc.) is essentialAble to work independently with minimal supervisionMust be capable of giving and taking direction.Must be capable of working as part of a team.Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization in a professional manner is essential.High level of integrity and dependability with a strong s- Location Hamilton, ON
