Duration: 8 Weeks Job Term: Full Time, Summer ContractResponsibilities:Assist the Programs Coordinator in planning and preparation for Summer Camps, focusing on the inclusion of children with disabilities and other special needs.Ensure the execution of inclusive Summer Day Camps, including setting up adaptive materials and ensuring accessible spaces.Provide direct support to children with special needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being during camp activities.Collaborate with camp staff, volunteers, and counselors to create an inclusive environment that accommodates all campers.Lead adaptive games, crafts, and activities for individual and small groups of campers with diverse abilities.Support campers during field trips, ensuring their safety, comfort, and active participation.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates on camper progress and addressing any concerns.Maintain detailed records of camper needs, progress, and daily activities.Carry out administrative and logistical duties to support the success of inclusive programming.Assist with setup and cleanup for daily camp activities, ensuring all spaces are safe and welcoming.Other duties as assigned.Key Qualities:Possess a compassionate and patient approach to working with children and families.Outgoing and relational, with a commitment to fostering inclusion.Demonstrates the ability to maintain harmonious relationships (including conflict resolution skills) with masjid members, staff, volunteers, and families.Accepts instruction and carries out duties efficiently and with enthusiasm.Works well on teams, both as a leader and as a team member.Has a passion for working with children of varied abilities, social, economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds.Qualifications and Skills:Applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 30 years (inclusive).Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, for the duration of the employment.Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.Understanding of Islamic etiquette and culturally competent practices.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to adapt to varying needs.Time management skills and deadline-oriented.Ability to respond to members? requests with patience and enthusiasm; understand the needs of campers and escalate issues when appropriate.Able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills.Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a requirement.Must have access to a reliable personal laptop for administrative and internship-related responsibilities- Location Mississauga, ON
