Education: College/CEGEP. Agricultural mechanics and equipment/machine technology. Heavy/industrial equipment maintenance technologies, other. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Heavy equipment. Tasks: Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Attach components and adjust new farm equipment. Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Service attachments and working tools. Verify and repair emission control systems. Perform other routine maintenance. Operate hydraulic pumping systems. Operate and maintain drilling rig diesel motors, transmissions and other mechanical equipment. Area of specialization: Truck-trailer repair. Diesel engine repair specialization: Fuel injection system. Exhaust system. Cooling system. Air conditioning system. Lubrication system. Engine control system. Major internal engine repairs or overhaul. Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Powered equipment repair specialization: Cable-operated working attachments. Hydraulic-operated working attachments. Compressors. Pumps. Telescopic ladder. Electric generators. Industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
