*POSITION SUMMARY* *Job title:* Engineering Manager *Reports to:* Ownership *DESCRIPTION* Leads all Pacesetter product engineering staff and plans, monitors and controls all Pacesetter product engineering activities, including those activities related to the development of new, and the optimization and support of existing products. The goal of this position is to develop and deliver new, quality products to the market with speed and to optimize the cost effectiveness, quality and market relevance of existing products. *ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES* * Identifies and ensures the adoption, documentation and consistent employment of industry-leading engineering practices for new product development, product optimization and product life-cycle support. * Compiles and maintains documentation of engineering standards and best practices. * Develops and monitors metrics to identify the performance of the group and its processes and employs corrective actions as required. * Ensures that resources are available with appropriate skills and training to meet the needs of the product development plan and fulfill the operational responsibilities of the department. * Develops and maintains the corporate intellectual property portfolio and strategy. * Creates project teams and monitors and controls project activities to ensure compliance with time, cost and quality objectives. * Assesses risk and implements appropriate risk mitigation and verification strategies for all product development activities. * Supervises technicians, technologists and other engineers and reviews and approves designs, calculations and cost estimates. * Reviews and approves designs, calculations and cost estimates. * Leads the Engineering Team and is therefore responsible for the following practices: * Documentation of product intent and verification of conformance to customer requirements * Translation of customer needs and value opportunities into tangible concept features and products. * Verification of product fitness-for- purpose, cost-effectiveness, compliance and risk mitigation. * Creation and maintenance of customer product documentation. * Provision of product engineering support to Pacesetter sales activities. * Provision of appropriate instruction to manufacturing for efficient steady-state production * Provision of engineering support to any relevant stakeholder throughout the product lifecycle. * Supports company mission, vision, budgets, goals and objectives. * Provides a working environment that is safe, clean and healthy. * Performs other duties as assigned. *QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS* *Specific Skills* * Fluent technical communication * Use of standard office software * Mechanical engineering design * Assessment of appropriate design for manufacture * Assessment of appropriate structural integrity, which may require the application of classical structural engineering calculation or finite element analysis. * Design, conduct and documentation of scientific experiments and prototyping activities. * Project management. * Resource management. * Excellent interpersonal & team building skills * Possesses a passion for delivering excellent internal and external customer service in a cost-effective way *Education and Experience:* * Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience * 5+ years of experience in a Production environment or related field * Significant industrial management experience * Proven leadership abilities in a technical environment *Training/ Certification:* * Registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia, or immediately eligible for such registration. *Education and Experience:* * Bachelor?s degree in a relevant engineering discipline. *Experience with:* * Process improvement * Project management * Strategic planning * Autodesk Inventor & Vault *TOOLS / SUPPLIES / RESOURCES* *Employee Must Provide:* * CSA Approved Footwear *Pacesetter Will Provide:* * Personal Protective Equipment for position
