Education: College/CEGEP. Tasks: Explain procedures. Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment. Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners. Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Operate mammography units. Operate radiation therapy equipment. Position patients. Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals materials to patients or to biological samples. Supervise technical staff. Train technicians, assistants, students or interns. Assist radiation oncologists and clinical physicists with preparation of radiation treatment plan. Assist in the preparation of sealed radioactive materials and the construction of plaster casts and acrylic moulds to assist with administration of radiation treatment. Perform diagnostic procedures using radioactive materials on biological specimens. Record and process results of procedures. Record and process patient data. Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail.
