Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Instruct apprentices. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments. Install exterior and interior steel studs. Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills. Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years. Workplace information: On the road job.
