Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Garage. Troubleshooting/diagnostic. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Inspect motor in operation. Review work orders . Test automotive systems and components. Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems. Repair or replace mechanical units or components. Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications. Perform scheduled maintenance service. Test and adjust units to specifications. Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements. Complete reports to record problems and work performed. Utilize hand and power tools. Perform routine maintenance. Organize and maintain procedures for the keeping of records. Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear. Apprenticeship training: Level four apprenticeship training. Type of product: Transmissions. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Tracked vehicle suspensions and steering.
