Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Administer tests using equipment, instruct patients on test procedures and record results, and monitor, check and calibrate auditory equipment
  • Examine adult clients to assess hearing loss, recommend type of hearing instrument, take earmold impressions and perform follow-up examinations and readjustments
  • Examine the patient
  • Follow through on treatment programs with patients
  • Make decisions on tests and procedures
  • Administer evaluative tests and procedures
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices
  • Order and purchase equipment
  • Process files and paperwork
  • Take earmold impressions and fit and adjust hearing instruments

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • Licensure by a provincial/territorial regulatory body for Hearing Instrument Practitioner
