Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Explain procedures
  • Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment
  • Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners
  • Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners
  • Operate mammography units
  • Position patients
  • Record and process results of procedures
  • Apply radiation protection measures
  • Explain procedures and side effects of radiation
  • Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment
  • Record and process patient data
  • Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists
  • Certification by a provincial or territorial association
