Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Nuclear medical technology/technologist. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology/technician. Work setting: Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Tasks: Explain procedures. Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment. Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners. Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Operate mammography units. Position patients. Record and process results of procedures. Apply radiation protection measures. Explain procedures and side effects of radiation. Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment. Record and process patient data. Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. Certification by a provincial or territorial association.
