We are a local women owned daycare, where our 2 majority owners, Vicki and Shanyce have been running the daycare centre since opening 3 years ago. We are at a point of growth where we'll be stepping down from the operations of the daycare to manage other areas of our business. This is an incredible opportunity to work as a director (with an assistant director) in a FULL Flight based Southwest Edmonton Daycare! We have 83 kids registered, a waitlist with hundreds of kids on it, an incredible team of dedicated educators, and coaches through ICC & ARCQE to support you and learn from. *Qualifications*
* Child Development Supervisor Certificate (Level 3)
* Has completed at least a 2 year Early Childhood Education Diploma/Degree, or B.Ed. in an accredited University or College
* *MUST have previous experience as a director*
* *MUST have experience in Flight Framework or Reggio Emilia or a learning through play curriculum*
* Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Sector through EPS only - updated every 3 years
* Current First Aid in Child Care Certificate
* Has completed Food Safety Course or willing to complete
* Any workshops/courses taken through GRIT/ICC or ARCQE considered an asset
*General Responsibilities:*
* Oversee the daily operations of the daycare, ensuring compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations and the Alberta Flight Curriculum Framework.
* Work closely with the Owner, Licensing Officers, and staff to enhance operational policies and procedures.
* Maintain a positive and professional work environment, fostering strong relationships among staff, children, and parents.
* Stay up-to-date with current child care practices and regulatory requirements.
*Health & Safety:*
* Ensure medication administration follows parental written authorization and Alberta Licensing Regulations.
* Monitor food distribution, ensuring alignment with the Canada Food Guide.
* Oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of toys, equipment, and furniture, ensuring compliance with cleaning protocols.
* Implement and enforce health and safety policies, including maintaining First Aid Kits and ensuring safety checklists are completed (Opening & Closing, Playground Safety, Daily Centre Checklist).
* Ensure staff carry portable First Aid Kits and portable records during off-site excursions.
* Verify that staff criminal record checks, vulnerability checks, and First Aid certifications are current.
*Programming & Resources:*
* Ensure all programming aligns with licensing guidelines and provides enriching, developmentally appropriate experiences for children.
* Support staff in planning and implementing curriculum that incorporates children?s interests, diverse needs, cultures, and community involvement.
* Ensure current program plans are posted and that staff receive one hour of paid planning time per week.
* Encourage parent involvement by inviting them to share their cultures, hobbies, and careers.
* Ensure daily outdoor play opportunities in a safe and stimulating environment.
* Maintain adequate inventory of toys, supplies, and multicultural materials that foster inclusivity and cultural awareness.
* Plan and coordinate celebrations, special events, and field trips with input from staff and children.
*Administration:*
* Submit Affordability Funding/Staff Top-Up information to the Government of Alberta.
* Prepare and submit reports to Licensing as required.
* Ensure child and staff records are current, organized, and secure.
* Manage tuition payments and follow up on delinquent accounts.
