The Project Manager, Transportation Planning & Development is responsible for leading a range of transportation initiatives as part of the development of and result from the Joint Regional Transportation Agency's Regional Transportation Plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation planning, project management, and a passion for improving the transportation system for the safe, equitable, and resilient movement of people and goods in the province. The Project Manager, Transportation Planning and Development will play a key role in leading and managing multi-modal transportation planning projects, providing expertise in developing strategic plans, policies, and programs to improve the transportation system and enhance mobility to connect communities.Responsibilities1. The incumbent develops and fosters relationships with subject matter experts from the JRTA's Core Partners, agencies and government departments to ensure alignment across initiatives and projects related to transportation and land use planning, engineering, and operations creating a culture of information sharing and collaboration among partners, agencies and departments. Results of this work are significant and have a direct impact on long-term sustainability of provincial transportation infrastructure.2. Fosters a diverse network of strategic partnerships with other departments, multiple federal ministries/agencies/crowns, municipal governments, first nations, and other external organizations and groups to identify transportation needs, opportunities, goals, and objectives, and develop innovative solutions to address them.3. Provides technical expertise and guidance in the development and implementation of the Regional Transportation Plan including research and development of policies and programs.4. Leads and manages transportation planning projects of varying scales and complexities, from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and project objectives are met. Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to identify project requirements, goals, and objectives.5. Responsible for managing project budget, schedule, team composition, communications, quality and risks.6. Ensures compliance with project- specific procedures and reporting including the development and upkeep of project charters, schedules, work breakdown structures, risk registers, written and oral reports, key performance indicators and budget tracking and forecasting.7. Manages and coordinates internal provincial teams and external consultants from project initiation to completion, using project management best practices to deliver projects on time and budget.8. Conducts comprehensive transportation analyses, including travel demand forecasting, travel demand modeling, and corridor studies, to inform decision-making and project prioritization.9. Leads public engagement efforts, including conducting workshops, public meetings, and stakeholder interviews, to solicit input, gather feedback, and build consensus on transportation projects and initiatives.10. Prepares and presents technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers, demonstrating a deep understanding of transportation planning principles and best practices.11. Stays informed of emerging trends, technologies, and policies in transportation planning, and integrate innovative approaches and methodologies into project work.12. Serves as a subject matter expert on transportation planning issues, representing the agency in professional organizations, conferences, and industry events.13. Conducts research and analysis to support project decision-making, including evaluating transportation policies, regulations, and best practices.14. Participates in and fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement.Qualifications1. Bachelor's degree in civil
