The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applications from SCDSB Contract Teachers (Elementary & Secondary) for the following position:<p>Summer Writing Contract: Indigenous Education in Grades 7 and 8 Language <p>10 hours to be completed by August 5, 2024<p>The successful candidate to the Summer Writing Contract will work collaboratively with the Language writing team to ensure the tools below are created with a focus on culturally responsive pedagogies inclusive of Indigenous ways of knowing and learning: digital Scope and Sequence document with corresponding resources to support expectation clusters.<p> digital The First 20 Days of Grades 7 and 8 Language: Co-creating a Positive, Inclusive and Collaborative Learning Environment & Establishing your Thinking Classroom. This would include tools to collect learner profile data.<p> Short pre- and post- instruction assessment that may be used to inform instruction and identify growth over time.Candidates will have system-level expertise related to the development and facilitation of effective professional learning related to Indigenous Education.<p>Successful applicants will be compensated at the Remedial Rate ($46.50/hour x 10 hours)<p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS An Ontario Teachers Certificate of Qualification<p> A University Degree<p> Qualifications to teach in two divisions (junior/intermediate or intermediate/senior preferred)<p> District or system level experience in an Indigenous Education role (preferred)<p> English teaching qualification (preferred)<p> Five years teaching experience (preferred)KEY COMPETENCIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT <p>Successful applicants for Indigenous Education writing team will have: in-depth knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and learning<p> knowledge of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) and anti-oppressive pedagogy<p> familiarity with the recently released Grades 7 and 8 Language curriculum;<p> a repertoire of effective evidence-informed instructional strategies to engage students in learning;<p> in-depth knowledge of assessment, evaluation and reporting;<p> experience using a variety of digital tools to support online instruction, assessment and student engagement;<p> an ability to align professional learning with system priorities;<p> experience in the design and facilitation of effective professional learning;<p> experience working in collaboration with colleagues;<p> excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; and<p> Growing Success Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools (1-12); Ontario Schools Policy and Program Requirements (K-12);<p> School Effectiveness Framework A support for school improvement and student success (K-12);<p> Learning for All A Guide to Effective Assessment and Instruction for All Students (K-12);<p> Creating Pathways to Success, An Education and Career/Life Planning Program for Ontario Schools: Policy and Program Requirements (K-12); and<p> Ontario First Nation, Metis and Inuit Education Policy Framework (2007). RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT <p> The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Language writing team to create culturally responsive, anti-oppressive resources inclusive of Indigenous ways of knowing and learning to support Grades 7 and 8 educators with the implementation of the recent Language curriculum.
