The RDN is situated within the traditional territories of several First Nations, including Snuneymuxw, Snaw-Naw-As and Qualicum First Nations and recognizes their rich cultural heritage. They bene?t from inclusive First Nations governance with strong collaboration at all levels in addressing important and pressing issues.About the RoleReporting to the General Manager, Development and Emergency Services, the Manager, Bylaw Enforcement is responsible for leading a team of dedicated professionals in the effective delivery of the RDN?s bylaw compliance and enforcement services with a focus on improving community safety and security. The Manager, Bylaw Enforcement will oversee the legal proceedings for related infractions, act as the Primary Screening Officer for the Bylaw Dispute Adjudication System and oversee and administer Animal Control services. The Manager, Bylaw Enforcement will plan, monitor, evaluate, control, and supervise the budgetary and staff resources allocated to the Bylaw Enforcement services function.The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in criminology, or social sciences combined with a minimum of ?ve (5) years of experience in the enforcement of bylaws, ?eld investigation and court procedures or other related enforcement ?elds combined with two (2) years in a supervisory or management role in a local government setting. The preferred candidate will have strong con?ict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
