Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Fashion house. Tasks: Draw, lay out and cut master pattern of product. Create pattern size variations from master patterns using computer or drafting instruments. Lay out master pattern on fabric and cut sample pattern. Estimate the amount of material of fabric required to make a product . Examine sketches, samples of articles and specifications of designs to determine number, size and shape of pattern parts and assess the amount of cloth required to make a product. Mark size, identification, style and sewing instructions on sample patterns. Outline parts of patterns on paper and mark patterns to indicate details such as the placement of pockets and pleats on garments, decorative stitching on shoe parts or eyelets on canvas products. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. 20/20 vision. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Personal suitability: Accurate. Client focus. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Experience: 1 to less than 7 months. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees . Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees . Support for youths: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.- LocationVancouver, BC
