Program Lead, Salmon-Safe BC Position Term: Full-time permanent (37.5 hours per week)Salary Range: $70-74K annually, plus a comprehensive benefits packageApplication Deadline: May 24, 2024 (5:00 pm PDT)Estimated Starting Date: June 24, 2024 The Fraser Basin Council Society (FBC) is a non-profit organization that advances sustainability in BC through facilitation, education and program management. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Program Lead with excellent interpersonal skills to lead the continued expansion of Salmon-Safe BC, a program that offers a tangible and measurable way to better manage lands to enhance salmon and aquatic ecosystem health. The Program Lead position is intended to be based in our Vancouver office through a hybrid working arrangement (home and office). However, remote work from other locations in BC may be considered. This position involves travel to urban and rural locations for Salmon-Safe assessments and certifications.Position Overview Reporting to the Regional Manager, Greater Vancouver Sea-to-Sky (GVSS), this position plays key leadership and support roles for the Salmon-Safe BC program.Salmon-Safe BC is a successful eco-certification program hosted by FBC that recognizes the implementation of transformative land and water management practices on urban and agricultural sites. It protects and restores salmon health and the aquatic habitats upon which salmon and other species depend. Salmon-Safe BC and its US partner have certified over 95,000 acres of urban and farmland sites across BC, Washington, Oregon and California. Salmon-Safe BC has experienced rapid growth in recent years.Salmon-Safe BC certification activity is concentrated primarily in the Lower Mainland, on the Sunshine Coast and on Vancouver Island; however, the geographic reach of the program is expected to expand to other regions in BC.Essential Position Functions and DutiesThe position helps to advance FBC?s sustainability vision - social well-being supported by a vibrant economy and sustained by a healthy environment - and supports the development and implementation of the FBC Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan. As a member of the FBC staff team, the Program Lead is responsible for accurately and professionally representing the FBC - its history, mission, mandate, strategic priorities and other programs - in addition to Salmon-Safe BC, projects and initiatives. Under the direction of the Regional Manager, GVSS and in collaboration with other team members, the primary functions of the position are to lead or support: Development and implementation of a Salmon-Safe BC strategy, annual work plans and budgets Awareness-raising among key target audiences through, for example: Development and implementation of a Salmon-Safe BC outreach strategy and plan Designing, promoting and facilitating specific outreach events such as workshops, webinars, panel discussions, presentations and collaborative dialogues Providing suggestions to enhance Salmon-Safe?s web and social media presence Qualifying, securing and implementing site-specific certifications through, for example: Confirming certification feasibility and costs Preparing and submitting certification proposals (including quotations) Securing agreements with site owners, developers and subcontractors Coordinating planning, oversight and reporting associated with pre-assessment and on-site assessment activities (e.g., coordinating assessor teams, convening and participating in client and team meetings; requesting key documents for assessor review; collating feedback on assessment findings; and completing assessment reports) Confirming whether certification requirements have been met and awarding certifications, as appropriate Undertaking certification renewals as required Qualifying, securing and implementing partner organizational accreditations (e.g., design firms) through, for example: Evaluating the ?beyond compliance? cap
