<p>Position Description <p>A temporary full time (1.0) District Literacy Support Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. The assignment will be at Learning Services working in the Curriculum Department. Work in schools across the district is also part of this role. The role of a Literacy Support Teacher is to demonstrate leadership in literacy by supporting district literacy initiatives, classroom teachers, students and school teams. The successful candidate would also collaboratively work on district literary initiatives in support of the SD 60's Framework for Enhancing Student Learning with the District Principal of Curriculum and curriculum team. Travel in district is a requirement of this position.<p>We are dedicated to providing services that assist students to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge required to successfully participate in<p>educational experiences. See www.prn.bc.ca/ls/ for more information.Qualifications and Experience <p> Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for) <p> Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects <p> Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students <p> Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills <p> Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning.<p> Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community<p> contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student<p> feels a sense of belonging <p> Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn <p> Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition <p> Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning <p> Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity <p> Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity <p> Ability to plan and facilitate in-services or collaboration<p> sessions with educators and Educational Assistants within and beyond the<p> regular school day <p> Demonstrated high level of self-regulation and professionalism <p> Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies <p> Have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills <p> Strong skills/familiarity with district reading assessments including PM Benchmarks and Read73 <p> Experience and willingness to support literacy initiatives in the district K-12 <p> Demonstrated understanding of the Language Arts curriculum K-9 <p> Experience utilizing data to identify and address learning needs <p> Possess current knowledge of programs, support services, classroom resources, and issues related to vulnerable learners <p> Maintain a current knowledge base of research in the foundational components of early literacy, including but not limited to :
