The successful candidate is an articulate and caring individual who communicates with ease and demonstrates care and concern to counsel children aged 9 - 12. This role is responsible for supporting the social and emotional development of students. This individual will have opportunities to be involved in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enhance students experiences at school. <p>Qualifications: <p> British Columbia Teachers' certification or equivalent is preferred <p> Teaching experience is an asset <p> Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or M.Ed in Counselling Psychology <p> Previous counselling experience at the junior school level is preferred. <p> Independent School experience is an asset <p> Extra-curricular experience is an asset<p>Knowledge, Skills and Experience: <p> Work closely with the school leadership team, teachers and parents with respect to student's social and emotional well-being <p> Provide direct counselling to children and families <p> Consult with school staff and parents <p> Lead teacher and parent workshops with respect to social and emotional learning, student mental health and navigating relationships <p> Participate as a member of school-based team meetings <p> Provide direct instruction to students in areas such as peer helping, conflict resolution, social skills and life skills <p> Provide support to colleagues who teach Health and Career Education and promote healthy school environments <p> Act as liaison with community agencies and allied professionals <p> Adhere to the ethical standards of the counselling profession and practice in accordance with federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families, including child protection/child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy <p> Familiar with Ministry Coding with respect to behavioural designations and funding <p> Knowledgeable in counselling children, parents and teachers with respect to ASD, ADD, ADHD, and other exceptionalities <p> Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning <p> Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator with a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions <p> Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player <p> Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders <p> Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills <p> Strong organizational and time-management skills <p> Committed to continuous professional growth and improvement<p>Faculty at York House are provided with the following: A diverse and inclusive work environment <p> Small class sizes and time f
