We invite you to be part of our evolution.Our Team: The Utilities Department is a multidiscipline workforce including Electricians, Millwrights, Instrumentation Technicians and Power Engineers. The Chief Power Engineer is an integral and, in many instances, the primary contact for the various internal and external work groups. The main commodities are electricity, steam, air and water. Our goal is to provide uninterrupted services to the Mine and the Surface Plants while everyone works and goes Home Safe.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a 3rd Class Power Engineer to join our Utilities Department in Thompson, Manitoba.As a 3rd Class Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation of the steam plant, compressed air equipment, water filtration/supply discharge systems and other related power and plant services equipment. Additionally, in this position you will:Ensure compliance with internal procedures and the Operating Engineers Act.Monitor power services equipment instrumentation and adjust (using computerized and non-computerized control systems) various power services equipment control parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow rates, water levels, additive concentrations) to ensure safe and efficient operation equipment.Complete all required log entries, records and reports accurately and on-time.Check, inspect, monitor and maintain the operational integrity of power and plant services equipment by troubleshooting and following up on all equipment failures in a timely manner, inclusive of minor repairs.Collaborate with area trades personnel as required to ensure safe and efficient operations.Gather samples, test and document water quality parameters; Manages feedstock by monitoring, transferring (between tanks), heating, and unloading feedstock as required.Performs all required duties safely, efficiently and within required housekeeping, safety and environmental standards.Respond to emergency situations, providing timely and appropriate resolution.The successful candidate will hold safety in the highest regard and will maintain safe practices in all aspects of work. About YouEducation:3rd Class Power Engineering certificate is required.Experience:3 years of experience in a large facility operating, power distribution, steam generation, vacuum, compressed air, and water distribution systems.Skills:Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.Solid understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ExcelProven self-starter with the demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.Demonstrated commitment to safety and the environment.Customer service orientated.Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue.Ability to monitor complex processes and coordinate critical activities.Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt qui
