We're looking for innovative team players ready to take some of the most well-known entertainment brands in the country to the next level.Job DescriptionGenerate original stories and other content for all platforms. Responsible for writing at least 5-7 news stories per day and updating them. Pitch ideas for original reportingEnsure the accuracy, consistency and adherence to standards of all material on the site (articles, headlines, photos, captions, video, etc.)Copy editing stories for grammar and accuracyVideo editingMay be asked to do on camera work.Visualizations in infographics, maps, quizzes, timelines and data journalismMonitoring and publishing wires, with focus on SEO, keywords and social sharingManaging multiple social media streams; sending news alertsParticipate in news editorial meetingsOther duties as assignedCritical QualificationsAt least 2 years' experience in a newsroomExcellent command of the English language; In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across CanadaAbility to write accurate and engaging headlines Must demonstrate accountability and teamworkExperience writing news stories for the Montreal market is an assetAbility to work under constant tight deadlines; time management skills and multi-tasking abilities are essentialMust be familiar with Canadian Press Style Guide and Canadian libel lawDegree in journalism preferredKeen interest and understanding of local news and current affairs, local community issues and political structuresValid driver's license and good driving record requiredPreferred QualificationsTelevision experience, on-camera experience and camera operation abilities an assetKnowledge of HTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop and other applications in the Adobe Creative Suite is an assetFamiliarity with newsroom management systems (e.g. iNews, etc.) and video encoding/format transferring an asset#EmployeeReferralProgramAdequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
