We are currently seeking *Powerline Technician Journeypersons* to join our team in Nova Scotia:
*POSITION SUMMARY:*
The primary purpose of the Powerline Technician is to perform all work in connection with electrical power generation, transmission and distribution system equipment, lines, apparatus, and substations.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Installs, maintains, removes and restores (steel, wood, composite or concrete) poles, towers and structures for powerlines;
* Sets and guys poles and pulls cables;
* Installs and maintains conductors and associated equipment;
* Makes cuts and connections on low and high voltage powerlines;
* Adheres to all safety standards by following approved safe work plans; and,
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
*CANDIDATE PROFILE:*
* Powerline Technician Trade Certification;
* Preferred 5+ years of experience working in high voltage transmission and/or distribution powerline and substation construction as a journey-certified powerline technician;
* Must be comfortable with working from heights and able to climb poles and structures of any height;
* Must be able to work in Class 2 and 3 rubber gloves and sleeves;
* Experience with hot distribution work would be considered an asset;
* Must have a safety-minded approach to performing daily tasks;
* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
* Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity;
* Valid Driver?s License; and,
* Valid passport for eligibility for international emergency response assignments an asset.
*WORKING CONDITIONS:*
* Regular travel (primarily across Nova Scotia), sometimes for extended periods of time;
* Lifting (loading and unloading) objects up to 62lbs;
* Working outside for long hours in all weather conditions, sometimes in remote areas;
* Sometimes traversing uneven/offroad terrain in remote locations while operating a 4x4 truck, ATV and/or on foot as required; and,
* Potential for encounters with local wildlife and insects.
