Archipelago has been around for over 40 years and is at the forefront of marine environmental services. We offer marine environmental consulting services to support sustainable coastal management for clients up and down the west coast of Canada and the United States. We also provide solutions and deploy technology for commercial fishing vessels, at-sea research technicians, and dockside monitors to collect data and report back to our clients. We are pros in managing data and assisting global fisheries to ensure sustainability for generations to come. Our head office sits right on the water in Victoria (Esquimalt), British Columbia and we have offices in Alaska, Oregon, Australia, and in port cities up and down the British Columbia coast.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Marine Environmental Services (MES) Division of the company. This division focuses on nearshore coastal inventory, marine habitat and environmental assessment, environmental monitoring, coastal planning, and sustainable resource management.

*WHAT WILL YOU DO?*
· Provide support to senior members of the MES division, including operational logistics ? permit application, stakeholder engagement, and project logistics
· Work independently to manage projects; develop project scope, budgeting, tasking, deadlines, and lead technical report preparation
· Liaise with clients and stakeholders
· Manage and monitor contracts for sub-contractors, consultants, and vendors
· Conduct business development activities and prepare project proposals
· Conduct or assist with environmental monitoring activities including environmental monitoring for development and construction, water/sediment sampling, acoustic monitoring, invertebrate and fish sampling, coastal marine biophysical inventory, and habitat characterization and assessment
· Conduct or assist with nearshore, intertidal, and subtidal field surveys (marine inventories).
· View satellite/aerial video imagery of shorelines and nearshore environments to record observations to produce ecological inventories and develop databases
· Collect and analyze underwater video imagery
· Conduct or assist with desktop (literature review, gap analysis) assignments and preparation of technical reports.
· Assist with map production and various types of GIS analysis for reports and field planning purposes.
· Help to develop shared MES proposal resources including processes, templates, tools, procedures and Health and Safety procedures
· Implement QA/QC protocols and design procedures for QA/QC
· Management of junior staff and their assignments (scheduling and delegation, technical provision)
*WHAT DO YOU OFFER?*
· B.Sc. in related discipline (Biology, Environmental Science) plus 7+ years, or an M.Sc. in applied biological science plus 5 years working experience including prior work experience in marine environmental consulting including project management.
· A registered member of the College of Applied Biology (e.g. RBTech or RPBio) or eligible to become registered with the college within six months.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills including scientific reporting and technical writing
· Strong knowledge of Pacific Northwest marine coastal biology and ecology including strong marine fish, invertebrate a
