Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. Shop fabrication. Service. Repair. On-site fabrication. Marine. Tasks: Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Calculate heating and cooling loads, design duct systems and select equipment for residential and small commercial construction. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Instruct apprentices. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Sheet Metal Worker Trade Certification. Specialization or experience: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Overtime required. Tight deadlines.
