Were seeking a globally minded professional whos fueled by curiosity, inspired by innovation and energized by collaboration to join our dynamic community of educators, staff, students, parents and alumni. <p> JOB PURPOSE <p> The York School is looking for an experienced and inspirational Teacher to be part of the Junior School faculty as a Homeroom Teacher. The successful candidate will have had training or successful experience at the Primary and Junior level with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and will be well-versed in project-based and experiential learning. <p> KEY RESPONSIBILITIES <p> Teach and assess the curriculum within the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework and philosophy of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) <p> Infuse The York Schools mission, vision, and values into all curricular and co-curricular activities <p> Ongoing assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and communication with parents and the teaching team <p> Establish and uphold student expectations through effective disciplinary strategies, fostering an environment conducive to teaching and learning <p> Utilizes a variety of strategies to build strong developmental relationships with students <p> Incorporate innovation and technology to enhance student learning across the curriculum <p> Provides an environment that supports bringing a diversity of voices and worldviews to classroom material and learning experiences, including local and global perspectives <p> Create a positive and engaging teaching and learning environment through adept classroom management practices and techniques <p> Stay abreast of best practices by actively participating in professional learning opportunities and engaging in professional development meetings <p> Contribute to student co-curricular and athletic programs as a teacher lead/supervisor or coach <p> Contribute to student experiential learning by chaperoning on overnight excursions <p> Participate in supervision as assigned <p> QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS <p> A Bachelors degree, B.Ed. and membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers with Primary or Junior qualifications <p> Minimum 2-3 years experience teaching Homeroom classes <p> Training and experience teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) considered an asset <p> Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team <p> Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills <p> Ability to interact with students, parents and staff cheerfully, enthusiastically, courteously, patiently and with discretion <p> Strong organizational and time management skills <p> A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a How can I help? attitude <p> Considerable proficiency in navigating a technologically rich school environment, with expertise in Google Workspace considered an asset <p> EMPLOYEE CORE COMPETENCIES <p> Flexibility & Adaptability <p> Breadth of Contribution <p> Relationship Focused <p> Service Orientation <p> Communication & Collaboration Inclusivity <p> Integrity & Trust FACULTY COMPETENCIES <p>
