Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey's Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.The Mine Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance on all mobile equipment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. The department attends to a variety of surface and underground equipment including but not limited to Dozers, Excavators, Haul Trucks, Drills, Loaders, Jumbos, Bolters, LHD's, etc. Additionally, the department is responsible for supporting the entire light vehicle fleet including Pick-Up Trucks, Semis, Forklifts, and other equipment. The Mine Maintenance department is comprised of highly skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians, Automotive Technicians, Truck and Transport Technicians, Welders, and Engineers.The OpportunityVale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.We are currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant 2 ? Wash Bay Attendant to join our Mine Maintenance department in Voisey's Bay, NL. This is a permanent position.This position is based at the Voisey's Bay mine site in Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This position is on a two week on, two week off rotation. Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant 2 ? Wash Bay Attendant will be responsible for steam cleaning of all surface and underground mobile equipment, general shop cleanup, and assisting the Shop Maintenance Personnel. Moreover, the Maintenance Assistant 2 ? Wash Bay Attendant will be working out of both the Surface and Underground Wash Bays. Additionally, in this position, you will:Steam cleaning all mobile equipment and tools.Perform minor repairs to equipment.Maintain good housekeeping.Maintain organizational skills regarding inventory on equipment, tools and its accessories.Comply with work safety policies and safety regulations such as WHMIS.Perform all tasks directed by the maintenance crew.About YouEducation:A grade 10 secondary education or equivalent is required. Experience:A minimum of 1 year experience working with Heavy Equipment is required. Skills:Good communication with co-workers and supervisors.Strong organizational skills.Concern for Safety, Health, and Environment.Strong ability to work cooperatively within a team environment.What We Offer YouCompetitive salary a- LocationLabrador City, NL
