Our TeamThe Thompson Mines Technical Services (MTS) Team is integral to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer. We aim to design and plan safe, sustainable ore extraction through technical excellence in the areas of geology, mine planning, ventilation, backfill, ground control, drill/blast, and survey control. The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Mine Planner, Mid Range to join our Mines Technical Services Team in Thompson, Manitoba. This is a permanent position.In this role, you will be responsible for adding detail to Long Range Designs and aligning the work with the Operations team for execution. These added details improve the forecasted consistency, align all stakeholders to a single plan and allow for continual improvement. The incumbent will work collaboratively with their peers in the engineering team and cross functionally with all other areas of the operations. Additionally, in this position you will:Update stope Designs using Deswik mine design software. Update development designs for accessing the ore body and other infrastructure.Ensure that stope requirements are assigned appropriately to allow for the forecasting of consumables.Ensure that mine infrastructure has appropriate design work to support the mineManage projects such as mine improvement and infrastructure replacement. Communicate with operation, contractor and construction crews to maintain scheduled timelinesRecommend improvements to engineering designs. Know and comply with safety policies and procedures.About You Education:Post-Secondary diploma in Mining Technology or a related discipline orUndergraduate Degree in Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering orRelevant experience in a Mining Operation Experience: 3 years of underground mining experience is an asset, however EITs with less experience are encouraged to apply.Skills:Expert knowledge of MS office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience with 3D mine design software (Deswik preferred)Solid understanding of project management principles.Strong verbal, written and analytical communication skills.Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.How Can Vale grow your career?The Mine Planner will be a part of the Thompson Mines Technical Services (MTS) Team which is integral to the success of the operations in being a safe and reliable producer.
