Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: At heights. Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Commercial. Institutional. Residential. Various locations. Tasks: Clean and prepare surfaces. Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners. Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife. Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coat, if required. Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets. Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency. Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry. Cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts and electrical outlets. Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied. Utilize laser alignment system. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Provides diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees . Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth. Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
