Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Planing mill. Waferboard plant. Paper converting company. Pulp and paper mill. Sawmill. Tasks: Ensure that systems and equipment are operating efficiently and that proper maintenance and repairs are performed. Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions. Establish work schedules. Co-ordinate work activities with other departments. Prepare production and other reports. Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality. Set up machines and equipment. Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule (and possibly review) activities of workers. Monitor safety conditions. Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies. Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity. Train staff/workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
