Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years. KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:
* One residential program for adolescents in care;
* Three residential programs for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
* A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
* Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
* Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
* Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 4-13 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
* Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness.

*POSITION SUMMARY *
Kennedy House is looking for a results oriented Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time permanent position located at our Head Office in Scarborough. The role reports to the Executive Director and has two direct reports.
The Accountant acts as a resource to the Executive Director and Management Team on all financial system matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial management, ensuring effective & efficient measures are in place.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES *
* Manages the biweekly payroll for approximately 150 employees and ensure adjustments are recorded on a timely basis
* Manages employee group benefits enrolment (Greenshield, Inkblot, Empire Life, Standard Life) and ensures proper pay deductions for all employees
* Responsible for preparation of budgets for various Programs based on funding source and in consultation with senior management
* Responsible for quarterly and annual reports for funding sources such as the Ministry, City of Toronto
* Monitors approved budgets and reviews all financial transactions and commitments of the Agency and brings to the attention of the Executive Director any unusual observations
* Responsible for all external financial reporting functions in consultation with appropriate staff
* Manages the fundraising software (Blackbaud) for online donations, tax receipts in accordance with CRA regulations
* Monitors investment accounts, reviews monthly statements and identifies unusual observations to Executive Director and Treasurer
* Monitors, anticipates and reports cash flow status and requirements of the Agency
* Prepares monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors/Finance Committee
* Monitors and review accounts payable, bank deposits, and general ledger maintenance
* Performs monthly bank reconciliation and processes adjustments in the general ledger
* Conducts account variance analysis and analysis of the resources usage in the Agency
* Ensures compliance with labour laws, the Collective Agreement and the Program?s practices for all employees in relation to wages, benefits
* Reviews new hire records to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Processes payments for termination/vacation as required
* Conducts regular communication to staff regarding payroll policies and procedures
* Acts as Agency liaison with external auditors in annual review of financial records and prepares working papers for audit purposes
* Prepares and files necessary monthly/quarterly/annually government payments and forms (GST Refund, EHT, WSIB & Charity Returns)
* Provides support and data for Collective Agreement renewals
