Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Assist health care professionals. Set up and dismantle equipment. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Apply and adjust casts, splints and bandages. Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements and plaster casts. Clean and maintain equipment. Help with scheduling and workflow. Clean and dress wounds. Advise patients in the use and care of prostheses and orthoses. Help patients complete menus. Assist dietitians with research in food, nutrition and food service systems. Clean and restore ocular prostheses. Connect treatment machines to patients, as directed by chiropractor. Assist chiropractor with physical examinations. Make and modify plaster casts. Perform general clerical duties. Prepare and maintain cleanliness of collection areas. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments. Consult with ophthalmologists concerning insertion of ocular prostheses. Schedule and confirm appointments.
