Advise clients on applying for visas, temporary visas (business/pleasure), green cards, citizenship Draft contracts to related international businesses involving any exchanges of money, goods, and services Serve as a guide to contract terms, regulations, laws, policies, and judicial decisions Face deportation appeals or other legal issues related to clients immigration status (stays of removal, sponsorship appeals, refugee appeals) Counsel client about rights, obligations and risks in variety of ways, make recommendations accordingly Review client's records and monitor for clerical errors Keep updated and regularly schedule hearings, court appearances and conferences based on case requirements Oversee matter from case initiation, case stragedy/planning, regular conferences with clients throughout process until successful completion of case Represent clients in immigration court proceedings, assist them obtaining legal status in Canada Advocate for immigration and refugee law with compassion, respect and a deep understanding so clients are prepared for anything that might come their way Advocate for specific, client-friendly drafting and interpretation Be well versed in Canadian Immigration Law Solid understanding of Immigration Law Policy and Proceedings Assist in navigating complex process of immigrating clients to new country Advise/advocate for client in all aspects of the application Excellent interpersonal/verbal/written/hearing/organizational skills Demonstrate attention to detail Vital client service/Analytical/Problem solving skills Multi-task in fast paced environment with competing demands Contribute to positive environment High professional standards and competence Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Salary: $50,000.00-$85,000.00 per year Schedule: * 8 hour shift COVID-19 considerations: Yes We are taking precautions Ability to commute/relocate: * Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred) Language: * Fluent in another language(s) a definite plus (preferred) Licence/Certification: * Standing membership with the Law Society of Alberta (preferred)
