Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts. Instruct apprentices. Read and interpret blueprints. Area of Specialization: Transformers. Switches. Switchgears. Shafts. Rotors. Industrial motors. Generators. Electric motors. Coils. Bearings. Armatures. Specific Skills: Wind, assemble and install various types of coils. Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment. Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors. Perform on-site servicing and repair. Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment. Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components. Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts. Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear. Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance. Own Tools/Equipment: Tools. Work Site Environment: Noisy. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish between colours. Standing for extended periods.
