Budget Analyst (G) <p>Financial Services Applicants will be considered in the following order: <p>1) Qualified permanent ESS/OSSTF Bargaining Unit employees <p>2) Qualified probationary, temporary and Temporary Hourly Rated (THR) ESS/OSSTF employees <p>3) Qualified external applicants (includes employees from other Bargaining Units) <p>Reporting to<p>the Manager, Budget Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for<p>various duties within Budget Services, including budget development,<p>monitoring, financial analysis and reporting. This position also provides<p>assistance and training to departments and schools and must support workflow<p>modernization within the department. <p>The successful applicants for these Educational Support Staff positions, Level G ($59,074 - $73,373), will be working 35 hours per week, 12 months per year, effective as soon as possible. <p>Responsibilities Maintain the general ledger code of accounts to ensure compliance with the Ministry of Education Uniform Code of Accounts and proper mapping for Ministry and internal board reporting purposes; <p> Review and approve journal entries and budget transfers prepared by Board staff and prepare documents for processing into the financial system while maintaining established deadlines; <p> Provide professional advice, training and support to budget stakeholders as it relates to procedures, processes, best practices and use of the financial system; <p> Conduct variance analysis on a regular basis to ensure mitigation of risks and to address budget monitoring and reporting challenges; <p> Assist with the preparation of the boards annual operating budget and revised budget, including working papers and reporting; <p> Assist with the preparation of year-end analyses and schedules; <p> Provide support to the Budget Officers, including but not limited to operating and capital budgets; <p> Work collaboratively as a member of the Financial Services teams to meet departmental and organizational objectives; <p> Other duties as assigned;Qualifications Undergraduate degree in a business related field (e.g. Accounting, Economics, Business Administration) is required; <p> Candidates with a Canadian Professional accounting designation are preferred; candidates currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) may also be considered; <p> Minimum 5 years experience in a role carrying out similar work; <p> Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders; <p> Demonstrated proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications (Microsoft, Adobe, Google suite of tools), Electronic Document Management and Financial Information Systems; <p> Demonstrated ability to problem solve and apply analytical thinking in a fast paced environment; <p> Ability to work in a detail oriented work environment, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality on a broad range of personal and business information;Applicant Self-Identification Questions<p>The information collected in Apply to Education is used to monitor WRDSBs progress toward our equity goals including our commitment to diversity in WRDSB recruitment and hiring practices. <p>We are committed to the security and confidentiality of information under our control, and to the protection of privacy with respect to personal and confidential information that is collected, used, disclosed and retained in the system (Policy 1014_- Privacy Protection and Access to Information).
